Front Porch Tropical Paradise – An Update

Sometimes things work out in the garden even better than planned. Do you remember when a croton inspired the containers on my front porch and turned a plan for purple into a tropical paradise? Here’s the original post if you missed it or would like to refresh your memory.

The plants have grown beautifully, filling the front porch with flowers and foliage of orange, red, yellow, coral and, of course, lush green.

The photos on the left were taken right after planting. Just look how they’ve grown!

Look at the before and after shots of the pots on the other side of the door.

Containers just planted in June…

…and growing like crazy in August!

The ferns were pretty right after planting, but…

…just look at them now! They are a gorgeous wall of green. The ficus, moved from inside, has grown taller. And another croton made its way from the garden center to my front porch. How did that happen?

The fuchsias are fabulous.

The window boxes are overflowing.

I haven’t spent as much time as I’d like just relaxing in my tropical paradise, but I am very happy with the way it turned out.

And the impatiens I was hoping would perform in the shade of neighboring zinnias and geraniums…

…are thriving!

I am so happy that croton caught my eye at the garden center back in June. Sometimes when a plant speaks to you it’s best to listen. Garden with me!
