Vintage Chicken Feeder Succulent Planters

It’s fun repurposing found objects as containers. Garage and estate sales, auctions, and flea markets offer treasure troves of possibilities if you just keep your mind and eyes open.

I found this pair of vintage chicken feeders and thought they would make a perfect container for succulents.

Fill the chicken feeder with a light potting mix. I made a paper funnel to make filling small holes easier.

And planting continued until all holes were filled. Trailing plants were alternated with upright types. Plants with small, needle-like leaves were positioned beside those with large, fleshy foliage.

Plants were watered in. They are pretty now, but will just get better and better as the beautiful textures grow together.
